New: Private Listings

Earlier this year, we launched Private Listings. A private listing is an off-market listing that is purpose-built for small business owners who aren’t ready to market their business fully but want to dip their toe in the water and understand the type of interest their business may receive. Owners can sign up for free and get a listing in front of 10K+ engaged and serious buyers, and buyers can spot a potential acquisition target and take the next steps.

As a buyer, you can now create saved search alerts for private listings. With these alerts, you are one of the first to know about potential new deals on Baton’s marketplace. You can then send a note expressing interest or submit an informal offer. Who knows? Your offer may convince the owner to sell!

Updated: Listing Search Filters

We heard feedback from buyers on how we could improve our search experience. Finding a business can be complicated so we are trying to make that easier by offering a new set of filters to help narrow your search. The new filters are:

  1. Hide franchised businesses,

  2. Must allow for absentee ownership,

  3. Must be a relocatable business, and

  4. Must be a remote business.

We hope these filters will help you get to your next acquisition faster!

Updated: Listing Stages

Deals move fast on Baton. So we have introduced two new badges to understand how a deal is progressing. These new badges are "Reviewing Offers" and "Accepted Offer.” “Reviewing Offers” is set when a listing starts reaching later stages of the deal. "Accepted Offer" is set when an owner has signed a non-exclusive agreement and is open to other offers.

Updated: Financial Adjustments Notes

We know that when reviewing a business’s cash flow, it’s important to understand which are necessary to the business and which are specific to the owner. We have updated our financial statements to include notes about the specific adjustments used to calculate the business’ adjusted cash flow.

New: Market Overview

Our M&A research team now writes market overviews for our listings. These market overviews provide a summary of the listing's industry and how the business compares to the competition. With this information, you can assess how the business is primed for the future, and if it is the right deal for you.

New: Performance Improvements and Tab Layout

On top of all the new features, we prioritized user experience and performance improvements.

Under the hood, we rearchitected our systems to improve load times, and wherever possible, remove load screens.

You may have noticed, but our site has a new look! We recognize that buyers have to manage dozens of stages across dozens of listings. Having to cycle between many pages introduces another layer of friction. So, we launched a new tab interface. For buyers, you can keep track of all your active deals. For owners, you can see all your listing information in one place. With this new layout, you can navigate across our application with far fewer clicks and loading screens.
